Description

Yehuda Watson AI is a portable, rechargeable device designed for screening lab-grown diamonds in both set and loose jewelry. It supports testing up to 8 rings at a time and approximately 50 ct of loose diamonds. The inspection area is 4.5 x 5 cm (1.5” x 2.5”) and the inspection space clearance is 4 cm (1.5”).

Main advantages

Fast screening workflow for retail and workshops

  • Test multiple rings in one cycle (up to 8) or loose stones.

Positive identification of CZ (cubic zirconia) - pronounced pink fluorescence

  • CZ (and some simulants) can be identified by their characteristic pink fluorescence in the dedicated "SIMULANTS" mode.

AI-assisted stone marking

  • The AI feature provides color coding of stone types (e.g. natural diamond, HPHT, CVD, CZ, moissanite) as an additional orientation layer - manual interpretation remains primary.

Cloud Documentation + Back Office

  • Save results to the cloud, attach details (photos, certificates, SKUs, names) and search and compare previous tests in the Back Office interface.

Use

Watson AI is suitable for workflows where there is a need to quickly screen and reduce risk before purchasing, during acceptance, repair, or resale.

  • jewelry retail (counter screening)

  • goldsmith's workshops (receiving stones, customer jewelry)

  • buyout / pawnshops

  • education and training

Limitations and recommended practices

  • Designed for white diamonds in the D–K color range.

  • Very low purity (I2 and worse) may give unreliable results.

  • Do not test fancy colored diamonds or colored gemstones.

  • Loose stones can be tested in thin plastic bags (not recommended); the device is not compatible with thick plastic or glass covers.

  • Always clean stones and jewelry before testing (fingerprints/dirt may affect results).

AI mode

Yehuda publishes a regularly updated page with current options.

Free diamonds:

  • minimum size > 0.25 ct

  • recommended storage table side down

  • keep the stones separate

Inlaid stones:

  • minimum size of the set stone > 0.40 ct

  • supports simple designs (e.g. solitaire / stud earrings)

  • The stones must not touch.

  • bezel mounting is supported, but may reduce accuracy

False positives and "misses":

  • Sometimes there may be an oversight (especially with jewelry); change position and repeat the test

  • AI may label reflections or metal as rocks – these labels should be ignored

Natural diamonds labeled as lab-grown:

  • Yehuda says that a small percentage of natural diamonds (about 2%) can be identified by the detector as lab-grown; the AI then copies the detector's result.

AI is only advisory:

  • Yehuda explicitly states that AI is an advisory tool, not the final authority.

Yehuda, Cloud & Back Office Applications

  • The detector works with the Yehuda App and can save results to your Yehuda cloud space.

  • You can open saved tests in your phone's gallery and online in the Back Office interface.

  • AI confidence levels for individual stones are available in the Back Office.

Watson AI requires an active subscription – without it, the system cannot be used.
