Description
PL-Inspector from Gemetrix
PL-Inspector is a portable instrument for observing fluorescence and phosphorescence of diamonds and gemstones under UV radiation. It helps distinguish natural stones from synthetic or treated material using 254 nm and 365 nm wavelengths.
The device is optimized for loose stones with a 15 x 15 mm inspection area. For mounted jewelry and larger assemblies, use Jewellery Inspector, which provides a larger working area.
Key features:
- Targeted 15 x 15 mm inspection zone: Precise work with individual stones.
- Portable format: Approx. 300 g, suitable for desk use and travel.
- Flexible power options: Battery or mains operation.
- Workflow integration: Supports fast screening in buying, sorting, and lab pre-checks.
Background: Gemetrix development is closely linked with physicist John Chapman and practical fluorescence-based screening methods used in the diamond trade.
PL-Inspector can be connected to a smartphone via the Gemetrix mobile app.
